Well, time keeps moving by and as ever things are happening. Exciting things coming up in my life involve an interview at the University of Cambridge next month and ~subsidel
coming home for Christmas. (He came home for the weekend to watch the DW special and that was really great.) x3 Also very excited for the Doctor Who Christmas Special as well as the return of The Following for its second season in January (I think). I have an awful lot of fanart that I want to do but I don't really know where to start. Among others, I really want to do drawings of characters from Doctor Who, Dexter, The Following and Hannibal but I face the problem of not having a printer to print out reference pictures, and then when I do manage to print something out from the printer at college, I proceed to angst at the fact that the image didn't come out so well and I don't know where to start with recreating it in pencil. :/ I should make a habit out of doing small character sketches for practice because I can't abide this constant feeling of uselessness.
Not helping in that department is the fact that I still seem unable to find a job, despite trying my hardest. I've had two unsuccessful interviews and one rejection email but apart from that I just hear nothing. People keep telling me to keep trying and that something will come up in the end but from my experience so far that doesn't seem to be very likely, and the closer we get to christmas, the more my window of opportunity is closing. This is another reason I NEED to keep up my drawing to continue slowly getting better until I finally (probably several years into the future, but still) get to that point where people might actually want to commission me. In the meantime, I'm trying to get by on the bursary I get from college, combined with whatever I can make from selling things I own that people might want and that I'm okay with getting rid of. Christmas shopping is setting me back a little in my saving up and selling my crap will make little difference in the long run but I just need to feel like I'm doing SOMETHING to earn money.
is doing another giveaway contest which as always, I'm really hoping to win this time. She makes really cool handmade jewellery and the like so you should all go and enter too. Here's a link to the relevant journal of hers, www.deviantart.com/journal/A-G…
and if any of you decide to enter, make sure to say it was at my suggestion! Participating is super easy so there's really no reason not to.
That's pretty much it for now, just a general update. I'll try to get more uploaded in the next month or so - just because it's the holiday season now doesn't mean I'll be inactive (or at least any more than I normally am). Also, some of you may have seen that I uploaded a Hannibal oneshot the other day that was my first attempt at fanfiction since my old Adam Lambert/Tommy Joe Ratliff slash *cringes*. It hasn't had any comments so far so I'd really appreciate it if you guys could have a quick read and let me know what you think, as I'm wondering if I should get back into writing for my fandoms instead of just attempting to draw.
